How to Clean Car Windscreen
Believe it or not cleaning your car windscreen is not just a cosmetic procedure, it can actually make a big difference to the safety of your driving.
So, how to clean a car windscreen to improve safety? Firstly if you smoke it can make this process much harder and longer. Also, if you don't clean your windscreen properly it may create a problem that you may not have had previously because you can create smears that can become a problem later on.
Your windscreen may look clean but in the wrong circumstances you will quickly realise it is not as clean as you think. How many times have you got into your car in the evening when you are faced by a car coming in the opposite direction, headlights blazing and you cant see a thing? This has happened to me quite often and my first response is to try and clear the windscreen with my bare hand, creating a worse view than I had before.
The reason for this is that we tend not to clean the inside of the windscreen as much as the outside, because we always clean the outside when we wash the car but how often do you clean the inside? We get buld up on the inside that can quickly become engrained and takes some shifting. The problem is made worse if you smoke. What you need to do is firstly remove any grease or grime with a damp cloth with a mild detergent if necessary. Then make sure the screen is dry, preferably using a good quality chamoix leather, then you need to thoroughly clean the windscreen with a good quality glass cleaner because if you use an inferior product you will find that you may leave a residue or smears that will not necessarily be noticed until later. When I said you had to clean the windscreen thoroughly, I mean THOROUGHLY. Trust me a windscreen can look perfectly clean in the daylight but at night or when the sun is low in the sky you will find out it is not as clean as you thought, and this can be quite dangerous. Firstly you dont want to be trying to clean the windscreen whilst driving and even worse you may be temporary blinded, which could lead to an accident.
I am quite stubborn when it comes to cleaning a car windscreen as I have been involved in an accident occuring from the problems above, so trust me it is important. The best glass cleaning product I have ever used is Auto Glym Fast Glass (see below), as it cleans without leaving residue or smears behind, so when you are talking about cleaning the most important viewing area of your car it is best to go for the market leader
